The Al-O-Ray Motel is located at the edge of the Hiawatha National Forest, so plan on hiking, biking or driving through the woods in the summer, seeing the incredible display of colors in the fall, and hunting for birds and deer in the late fall.

Indian Lake, the fourth largest inland lake in the Upper Peninsula, is just 3-4 miles and Thunder and Chicago Lakes are nearby. Indian Lake is great for fishing, swimming and water sports. Try the great fishing and swimming in Lake Michigan, or fish one of the many inland lakes or Big Bay de Noc. The mouth of the Thompson Creek and the Manistique River are hot spots for salmon and steelhead fishing in season.

Bring back some fresh caught walleye, perch, lake trout, northern pike, bass or bluegills and cook your fish on the grill, then sit around the campfire and enjoy a beautiful northern evening.
