2014 Spread Eagle Art Show

Ted Rogers

Ted Rogers was raised in Lowell, MA and attended Providence College in Rhode Island.  After graduation he entered the Air Force and was stationed at K.I. Sawyer AFB in Gwinn.  There he met his wife, the former Julie Jensen of Iron Mountain.
Upon his discharge he worked for the Northern Michigan University Information Bureau and the Marquette Mining Journal as a feature news writer. He earned teaching certification at NMU and taught school in L’Anse and Republic.  During this time he became involved in several extra-curricula activities with students and developed an interest in woodworking.

Upon retirement, Rogers and his wife moved to Spread Eagle, WI.  While attending a WoodBee Carvers show he was introduced to the late Tom Hower, a master carver, and enrolled for one of his carving classes.  His first carving was of a Golden Retriever about five inches long.  That got him hooked on carving.  Rogers joined the WoodBee Carvers and has become actively involved attending several shows a year.  He has won several ribbons that qualify him for the title of master carver.  His specialty is carving the bark of the cottonwood tree and that keeps him very busy.

Northwoode Wreaths
Hilde Meade

Hilde lives on a farm in FlorenceFlrence, Wisconsin where she enjoys working mostly with birch branches and honeysuckle vines. Her wreaths have a natural, wild and woodsy feel that makes them both rustic and elegant.  Birdhouses and other whimsical and dramatic elements are incorporated to create unique, one of a kind pieces.  Her inspirations are the wildness and beauty of nature, the magic in the woods, and holidays, rituals, hobbies and celebrations of all kinds.

Ron's Rocks and Gems
Ron Zimmer

Inspiration for Ron's creations comes from the beauty that is inherent in the rocks themselves.  Matching and contrasting colors and shapes allow Ron to create almost endless designs.  He works with semi-precious beaded jewelry and does some faceting of more precious stones.

Along with these items, Ron knots pearls, cuts and polished cabochons, collects fossils from suppliers around the world, and tries to have a variety of both polished mineral pieces as well as rough specimens for other lapidary enthusiasts.
