Lodging at the Au Train River Cabin, a comfortable 2 bedroom cabin on the AuTrain River in AuTrain, MI near the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Island in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Located only 10 miles west of Munising in Alger County.

Just a few steps takes you to the dock on the AuTrain River where you can fish or find excellent swimming with a sand bottomed beach. Fire pit by the water for roasting marshmallows or cooking hot dogs. A boat & motor or a canoe can be rented to use on the AuTrain River for fishing or boating.

The kitchen has full-sized appliances, a microwave, coffee maker, dishes, and cooking utensils. The family room has Cable TV with a VCR and there is a large deck overlooking the river. Deck is complete with grill, picnic table, and deck chairs for enjoying the beauty of the river and the Hiawatha National Forest.

Enjoy fishing, swimming, boating or some of the other activities available in the area. There are several nearby waterfalls to visit or back roads and trails for biking and hiking. The AuTrain Songbird Trail is a few miles south of the cottage at the campground - - nice hike and you can learn to recognize the birds by their song.
Paddlers will enjoy the Au Train River trip. You can leave from the cottage and paddle all the way down the meandering river to Lake Superior. A gentle paddle through the wilderness of the Hiawatha National Forest.

You might also enjoy hiking in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore or on Grand Island, take a Shipwreck Tour in the Glass Bottomed Boat, or cruise by the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Go scuba diving or snorkeling in the Alger Underwater Preserve or along the beautiful rock formations of the Pictured Rocks. Fishermen will enjoy fishing in AuTrain Lake or the AuTrain River or trying some of the nearby lakes in the Hiawatha National Forest.

The AuTrain River Cabin has easy access to the snowmobile and ATV trails so you can ride right from the cabin door. There is parking for large trailers and a HEATED garage for repairs one block from the cabin at the AuTrain River Lodge. |

Snowmobile trails connect for rides to the Pictured Rocks or west to Marquette. Head south to trail #8 for great sledding in the Hiawatha National Forest. Snowmobile Rentals available in Christmas and Munising. Groomed cross country trails are nearby in the Pictured Rocks and Valley Spur. Lots of nearby woods for snowshoeing or you can go ice fishing right in front of the cabin.

Enjoy a leisurely paddle from the South Bridge to the North Bridge (Doucette Bridge) or tackle AuTrain Lake and then relax on the river.
