in the Central Upper Peninsula of Michigan
 

Big Cedar Campground in Germfask, MI is on the shores of the Manistique River within 3 miles of the Seney National Wildlife Refuge. There are 50 sites for tents, campers, and RV's.

Big Cedar is open each year from May 1 to October 1st. Reservations recommended, so be sure to call ahead. The average size lot is 25' x 65", but some are much deeper and wider.

Big Cedar has enough space to accommodate even the big RV units pulling cars.

This former C.C.C. camp #3626 offers a friendly, quiet atmosphere on this beautiful river. The camping area is surrounded with fishing and hunting opportunities. At the campground you will find volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, badminton, a gathering pavillion with a charcoal grill, and a playground.

Rates:
Tent sites with water and power - $18.00 per night based on 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids under 12). Additional people $2.00 each.

Campsites with water and power - $22.00 per night based on 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids under 12). Additional people $2.00 each.

Campsites with Full Hook-Up: electricity, water, and sewer - $26.00 based on 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids under 12). Additional people $2.00 each.

Camp at Big Cedar or just stop in and rent canoes or kayaks for a trip through the Seney National Wildlife Refuge, over 95,000 acres of land and water devoted to wildlife preservation. Just make yourself some breakfast and head for your canoe and a great day on the water. Paddle quietly through the refuge and you will be rewarded with some remarkable views of birds and animals. What a way to start the day! Big Cedar Campground also has canoe drop off and pick up for the Fox River and the Upper Manistique River.

We offer kayak rentals starting at $25.00 for a 2 &1/2 to 3 hour trip and canoe rentals start at $29.00

Camping at Big Cedar Campground gives you the opportunity to see many of the great places you wanted to see in the U.P. without having to pack up and move to a different location each night.

These destinations are within 1 hour of the campground and make wonderful day trips:

Visit Seul Choix Lighthouse and Museum just south of Gulliver
 
See the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Grand Island, and Munising. Try one of the boat cruises in Lake Superior to view shipwrecks or the Pictured Rocks
 
Enjoy Tahquamenon Upper and Lower Falls, Crisp Point Lighthouse, and Oswald's Bear Ranch north of Newberry
 
Take a ride to Paradise and the Whitefish Point Lighthouse, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, and the White fish Point Bird Observatory
 
Visit Grand Marais for lunch and enjoy the sand beach on Lake Superior, Log Slide, and Sable Falls.
 
Travel west of Manistique and see Big Springs, Michigan's largest spring and Fayette Historic Village

Take your day trips and then come back to the campground and relax around a campfire with plenty of rest for the next day.

Cottage available: Two bedroom cabin for rent on the Manistique River. Sleeps up to 10. Open concept living area with fireplace, sleeping loft, 2 bathrooms, fully furnished. Full basement. Laundry facilities. Open year round. 3 night minimum or weekly rental. 1/4 mile from trail. Sorry, no pets.

Restaurants can be found in Germfask and Seney (7 miles). Groceries, gas and your favorite beverages are also available at Seney.
