The log lodge has four spacious bedrooms with four full sized cedar log bunk beds and 2 twin beds giving a total of 10 separate beds.

Ideal for a group, reunion, family, or anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the beautiful north woods.

Chippeny Creek Lodge has a wood interior and is an open concept with a modern kitchen and living area and an awesome view of the Whitefish River and the surrounding wilderness. Dining area will easily seat everyone for meals. The living area has a satellite dish TV and VCR with a wood burning fireplace. Gas wall furnaces will keep you cozy on the coolest of Upper Peninsula nights.

The kitchen is equipped with a full sized gas stove and refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, dishes, and cooking utensils. Since the Lodge is located in a wilderness area, utilities are powered with gas, batteries, and a generator for lights and electrical appliances. There is no phone so you might want to bring a cell phone, or you can drive into Rapid River to use a public phone.

The large deck overlooks the Whitefish River and the surrounding area and ideal for sitting on the swing, watching for wildlife, and enjoying the beauty of nature.

There is a gas BBQ grill for cookouts and a fire pit for campfires under the stars.

While staying at Chippeny Creek Lodge you might like to fish in the Whitefish River or canoe from the Lodge to the bridge over US-2 in Rapid River. For a longer paddle, put your canoe or kayak in north of the Lodge on Forest Road 2236. The best time is during April and May when the water is higher and faster. Great opportunity to see wildlife as they come down to the water to drink.

Fish Little Bay de Noc for trophy Walleye and many other varieties of fish. Ice fishing is also excellent on the Bay. Cook up some fresh fish on the grill for a delicious dinner. Don't have a boat? Try charter fishing for a wonderful day on the water.

The Hiawatha National Forest offers thousands of acres of public land for hunting large and small game, waterfowl, and ruffed grouse.

Hikers will enjoy the Bay de Noc Grand Island Trail that follows the eastern side of the Whitefish River or mountain Bike on the back roads through the forest.

Photographers will find excellent opportunities for some great shots year round and bird watchers will see many interesting birds. You might catch the fall Monarch Butterfly Migration as they stop to rest at Peninsula Point.

snowmobiling, rapid river michiganGolfers will enjoy the nearby 18 hole course in Gladstone, courses near Escanaba, or the 9 hole course along Big Bay de Noc in Nahma.

Winter brings great snowmobiling with access trails near the Lodge that connect to trails that lead throughout the Upper Peninsula. Ride over to Manistique and up through the Hiawatha National Forest to the Munising Area and the Pictured Rocks.

Cross country skiers will have fun on the groomed Rapid River Ski Trails near the Lodge or snowshoeing through the woods, or you can go dogsledding through the Forest with guided trips of 2 hours or longer.

You can take a ride to the tip of the Stonington Peninsula and climb the Peninsula Point Lighthouse Tower for an awesome view of Lake Michigan. Great place for a picnic or looking for fossils on the rocky shore. Large vehicles or trailers need to park at the parking lot as the two-track road goes through a very low arch of trees.

Sand Point Lighthouse in Escanaba is open during the summer or you can visit the historic old iron smelting town of Fayette on the Garden Peninsula. Kitch-iti-Kipi, Michigan's Largest Spring, is north of Thompson in Palms Book State Park where you ride on a self guided raft over the spring and look down into the clear bubbly water.

Fine dining and entertainment is nearby and there are Casinos south of Escanaba or in Manistique, Marquette, and Christmas.
