located 3 miles west of AuTrain, MI and 13 miles west of Munising in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Cottage on Lake Superior has three bedrooms and is located right on Lake Superior with a secluded sandy beach, an awesome view of the lake, and beautiful sunsets. Only 3 miles west of AuTrain, the Cottage on Lake Superior is conveniently located near wonderful outdoor recreation, scenic attractions such as the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Island, the Hiawatha National Forest, and beautiful waterfalls. This area is a delight for photographers and nature lovers of all ages.
The Cottage on Lake Superior has an open concept living area overlooking Lake Superior with sliding doors leading out to the nicely furnished deck. A wonderful relaxing spot to sit and enjoy the breathtaking view or read your favorite book or magazine. The living room has comfortable seating with a wood-burning stove and wood is provided for your crackling fire. There are 2 satellite TVs with DVD players in the cottage.
There is a charcoal grill on the deck for outdoor cooking. The Cottage on Lake Superior has three bedrooms and two complete bathrooms with a tub/shower combination. The bedroom on the main floor contains two twin beds and the upstairs bedrooms have three twin beds in one room and two twin beds in the other bedroom. There are two roll-away beds for extra guests so the cottage will sleep up to 9 people. There is one bathroom on each floor and linens and towels are provided.
A nice wood walkway and a few wooden steps lead down to the secluded sandy beach on Lake Superior. An ideal spot for children of all ages to relax in the sand. A canoe is provided for our guests to use. Winter guests will find easy access to the snowmobile trail right from the cottage door that lead to hundreds of miles of groomed trails. Cross-country ski trails are only a short distance away. Anglers will find ice fishing on nearby AuTrain Lake, with ice climbing in the Pictured Rocks for the adventurous. Attractions and Recreation The Cottage on Lake Superior is conveniently located near interesting things to see and do. The spectacular Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore with their unusual rock formations is just 13 miles east in Munising where you can take short walks or go on longer hikes. Take the Pictured Rocks Cruise where you can enjoy the beauty of the lakeshore from the water or view sunken ships from the Shipwreck Cruise in the Glass-bottomed Boat. Charter fishing and sunset trips are also available. Grand Island is wonderful for hiking and biking with bikes available to rent at the boat landing. There is also a bus tour of the island for those that aren't excited about a long hike. Tour some of the area waterfalls . . . some can be seen right from your car window and don't forget your camera. This area is beautiful any time of the year. Watch for wildlife as it is plentiful in this area surrounded by the Hiawatha National Forest. Boats, canoes, and kayaks can be rented in AuTrain for use on AuTrain Lake or the AuTrain River.
