The Getaway is a three-bedroom vacation home nestled in the woods near downtown Curtis, perfect for your vacation in the Manistique Lakes area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Curtis is only about 75 miles from the Bridge and is surrounded by the three Manistique Lakes for great boating, kayaking, fishing, and water sports. Snowmobile and ATV trails lead throughout the area.

The Getaway has a nice cozy living area with comfortable furnishings, a gas fireplace, and a TV with a DVD library.
Patio doors lead to the large deck that overlooks the woods.

The complete kitchen has a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, and what you need for preparing your meals. The laundry room has a washer and dryer. The screened porch off the kitchen is great for relaxing and enjoying nature.

There are two bedrooms on the main level, one with a queen bed and the second bedroom is furnished with a full bed that has a twin trundle bed underneath. The upstairs loft is furnished with a double bed and there is a sofa sleeper in the living room for extra guests. The newly renovated bathroom features tiled walls, large shower with corner seating, and a window overlooking the woods. Bed linens, towels, and paper products are furnished for our guests.

The outside of the Getaway Vacation Home is furnished with patio furniture and a gas grill for your outdoor cooking. The fire pit in the yard is perfect for your campfires. Sit around the fire in the evening and roast hot dogs or marshmallows and enjoy the night sky.

The Getaway is conveniently located near downtown Curtis for shopping and dining and near the Manistique Lakes for fishing, boating, water sports, and swimming. There is a public park with a wonderful sandy beach only 1 mile away.

Enjoy interesting attractions and fabulous outdoor recreation. Take a day trip to the Seney Wildlife Refuge just west of Curtis. Stop at the Visitor Center for interesting displays and video presentations, check on the hiking & biking trails, or take the 7 mile Wildlife Marshland Drive, a self guided auto tour with docks and spotting scopes along the way.  

The Seul Choix Lighthouse is in nearby Gulliver. Tour the restored lighthouse, climb the tower of this active light, watch the interesting video presentation, or browse the gift shop for interesting books and nautical gifts. Kitch-iti-kippi, Michigan’s largest spring, is a few miles west of Manistique in Palm’s Book State Park.

If you drive north to Newberry you might like to visit stunning Tahquamenon Falls or the Tahquamenon Logging Museum. Golfers will enjoy the picturesque 18-hole Newberry Country Club and its full service bar and grill.

WINTER F UN

Winter visitors will find easy access to the snowmobile trails with sled rentals in Curtis. The  trail groomers maintain over 140 miles of local marked trails that tie into several local systems as well as 2,500-mile state trail system allowing the snowmobiler to travel throughout the entire Upper Peninsula. Snowmobilers can plan several one-day trips of 100 miles or more in the local loop.

Cross country skiers will have a wonderful time on the Curtis trails or the 9 miles of groomed trails at the Northern Hardwoods Cross Country Ski Area at the Seney Wildlife Refuge. Explore the Northwoods as you ski through hardwood forests and marsh areas with trails for everyone from a beginning skier to an advanced skier. (Trail Map)
