Fishing: Halfway Lake Resort is an angler's Paradise, offering some of the finest fishing in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. We provide boats and canoes with cottage rentals so you can enjoy our 65 acre lake, where you can catch some of the finest Northern Pike or pan fish with no license required. To ensure the ongoing quality of our fishery, our practice is to catch nd release all you want, keep only what you can eat that day, and leave the rest to enjoy on future visits.

halfway lake cottages newberry miWe are centrally located 10 miles from the Tahquamenon and the Two Hearted Rivers, with the famous Fox River in nearby Seney, MI. All three rivers offer magnnificent trout fishing and are accredited as "blue-ribbon" trout streams. Nearby you will also find many other inland lakes, rivers, and streams flourishing with walleye, northern pike, perch, bass, rainbow trout, and brook trout.

Snowmobiling: We are located in the "Lake Effect Snow" area of the Upper Peninsula with some of the best groomed trails available. Why trailer your snowmobile to a trailhead when you can snowmobile from your door? We are centrally located to Lake Superior, Whitefish Point Lighthouse, Tahquamenon Falls, Pictured Rocks, and Grand Marais, all of which you can reach on your sowmobile. Sled rentals, gas, and food are all located within 2 miles of Halfway Lake Resort.

Hunting: Rifle and bow hunting are two favorite sports in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Guests staying at Halfway Lake Resort may hunt deer and bear in our 200 acres of private forest, with permission and proper licensure. There are thousands of acres of State Forests, which offer bird, bear, and trophy deer hunting. Bear weighing more than 500 pounds were harvested from Luce County in 2003

Birding: Halfway Lake boasts its own pair of nesting Loons that make their home on our beautiful lake. We also have a pair of Sand Hill Cranes that frequent the area, and you may be lucky enough one morning to spot an Osprey or an Eagle catching its breakfast of fish as the sun is rising over the lake.

Agate Hunting: We are a short drive from the shores of Lake Superior. This stretch of the shore is a prime agate area. Agate hunting is at its absolute best in the spring after the ice floes have brought a new supply to the shore. Fall agate hunting is also very good, especially on the beaches between Whitefish Point and Grand Marais. Halfway Lake Resort is located in the middle of the banded agate territory.

Off Roading: Halfway Lake Resort provides direct access to several hundred miles of trails known as some of the best ATV and ORV trails in the State of Michigan.
