The Mining Museum at Iron Mountain MI contains:
The Cornish Pumping Engine, a National Historic Site. One of the largest pumping engines in the world, used at the Chapin Mine in Iron Mountain.
Large Exhibit on the Waco CG-4A Cargo Gliders built during World War II at the nearby Kingsford MI Ford Motor Plant. History of the CG-4A
Large collection of underground mining equipment on display inside the museum and on the grounds.
The Mining Museum has developed a collection of mining equipment used in the iron mines and has this equipment on display outside of the museum and also in the mining rooms of the museum. You will see everything from engines and ore cars to jack hammers and other drilling equipment, pumps of various types, tuggers, scrapers, skips used to transport ore to the surface, man cars used to transport miners to the work area, a dynamite car and much more.

The Gift Shop at the front of the Iron Museum offers a good selection of T-Shirts and denim shirts with the image of the Cornish Pump, the Dickinson County Afghan featuring mining sites, mining books and the Dickinson County Centennial Book filled with information about iron mining around the "iron mountain" area. Glass collectibles plus antique doll and doll furniture reproductions are also available.
Museum hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday and 12 noon to 4 pm on Sunday, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Other times by appointment.
