KIMAR'S SHELTER BAY RESORT
Kimar's Resort offers 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom housekeeping cottages on the shores of Lake Superior at Shelter Bay. Cottages have full kitchens equipped with stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, cooking utensils, and dishes. Linens and towels are provided. Free Wireless internet access. Weekly Rates available.

There is 300' of sandy beach on the lakeshore, ideal for swimming, and a screened in porch with picnic tables and a gas grill. We have a fire pit for campfires and a large dock. We also have a play area for the children with swings, slide, and a sandbox. Our parking area has plenty of room for your boat and snowmobile trailers. Private boat launch.

Direct access to snowmobile trail #417 so you can ride from your cottage door and connect with the trails that run throughout Alger County and the entire Upper Peninsula.

ONE BEDROOM COTTAGE:
The 1-bedroom cottage includes a queen-size bed and a bathroom with a tub and shower. There is a combination kitchen and living room area with a table and futon. This cabin sleeps 2-3 people.
Rates:
$25 per person for up to 3 people with a minimum charge of $65 per night.

TWO BEDROOM COTTAGE:We offer a large and a small 2 bedroom cottage.
The small 2-bedroom cottage has knotty pine paneling with a full size bed in each bedroom. Bathroom with shower. Rollaway cot available. Enclosed porch.
Rates:
$25 per person for up to 5 people with a minimum charge of $65 per night

The large 2-bedroom cottage is nestled in the woods overlooking a small river and features a full-size bed in one bedroom and a king-size bed in the other bedroom. Bathroom with shower. There are comfortable chairs in the living room and a futon for an extra person. Satellite TV. This cabin has a large complete kitchen and dining area. The cabin has a private deck and sleeps 4 comfortably, but can accommodate up to 5 with the futon.

THREE BEDROOM COTTAGE:
The 3-bedroom cottage has a full-sized bed in two bedrooms while the third bedroom has two twin beds. One bathroom with a tub/shower combination. This cabin has a full living room with a sofa, comfortable chair, and Satellite TV. Complete kitchen and dining area. This cabin will sleep up to 6 people.
Rates:
$25 per person for up to 6 people with a minimum charge of $100 per night.

FOUR BEDROOM COTTAGE:
The 4-bedroom cabin has 3 bedrooms with a full sized bed in each room and a fourth bedroom with 2 twin beds. The cabin has a full bath and a 1/2 bath. The living room has a sofa, chairs, and Satellite TV. Complete kitchen with a dining area. Private deck. This cabin will sleep up to 8 people.

$25 per person for up to 8 people with a minimum charge of $150 per night.

Kimar's Charters offers fishing trips from the beginning of June through the end of August. There are also trips in May and September, depending on the weather. Kimar's Charters has over 60 years of charter fishing experience and offers Trolling, Casting, and Jigging Fishing trips to three locations.

The charter trip includes all fishing tackle and equipment, but you may bring your own rod and reel if you wish. Each of our boats can accommodate up to 6 people and meets Michigan and U. S. Coast Guard Regulations. Our boats are insured and are equipped with a cabin area and restroom facilities.

Shelter Bay Flats:
Our "local trip" takes you just 3 miles north of our dock to the Shelter Bay Flats. This trip is all trolling with downriggers and wire line rigs with all tackle provided. The majority of the catch is Lake Trout, but you might hook a salmon or a steelhead. We offer half day and full day trips.
Morning: 7:30 am to 11:30 am. Afternoon: 2 pm to 6 pm. Full Day: 7 am to 2 pm

Big Reef Trolling Trip:
The Big Reef is located 25 miles northeast of the dock in Shelter Bay. We are primarily trolling at this location, however we have done some jigging here in the past few years with great success. Lake Trout are the most common catch with fish in the 20 lb range possible. Limit catches are the norm here. This trip runs approximately 8-10 hours from 6 am to 2 in the afternoon.

Stannard Rock Casting and Jigging Trip:
Stannard Rock is located 44 miles north of Shelter Bay. The Stannard Rock Lighthouse is on a shallow reef where native lake trout feed. This is our premiere trip with fish caught by casting and jigging. This is "World Class Lake Trout Fishing" and many records have been set at the Rock. All tackle is provided, but if you have a favorite rod, bring it along and we will tell you the best way to rig it up! Limit catches are common, and fish in the 20-30 lb class are caught daily. This trip runs approximately 10-12 hours. Approximate time 5:30 am to 5 pm.

Fishing by Stannard Rock Lighthouse

Ask about scenic tours to AuTrain Island, Grand Island, Woods Island, and the Munising lighthouses.

Kimar's Resort and Charter Fishing on Lake Superior is located only a few miles from a restaurant and bar, only 13 miles from the Kewadin Casino and restaurant in Christmas, or 15 miles from the Ojibwa Casino. The town of Munising is only 18 miles west with shopping, the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and Grand Island. The Hiawatha National Forest is just south of our resort if you want to combine your fishing trip with a little trout fishing in the local streams or drop a line in one of the many nearby lakes. Deer Lake is just across the highway for swimming and boating.
