Terri and Darrin Moen Konteka Black Bear is located in White Pine, MI only 6 miles south of Lake Superior and the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park on Highway M-64 in the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The town of White Pine is located 12 miles north of Berglund where you will find excellent fishing and boating in Lake Gogebic and 5 miles south of Silver City MI. And a Sports Enthusiasts Paradise Konteka offers all you need for a wonderful vacation with comfortable motel rooms, a full service restaurant, sauna & hot tub, and a Bar & Grill for your favorite beverages, games, and late night snacks. The Black Bear Bowling Alley is connected to the Bar & Grill and offers league and open bowling. Konteka is conveniently located close to the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, Lake Gogebic, local attractions and recreational opportunities, and is right on the snowmobile trails. Our large lighted parking lot offers room for hundreds of snowmobiles, ATVs, fishing boats, and your trailers.

From Ontonagon, take M-64 west of Ontonagon
for 17 miles to Konteka. Konteka is conveniently located just off
Highway M-64 with a gas station and convenience
store next door. White Pine MI is a company town that was built in 1954 around the White Pine Copper Mine, that operated until 1995 when it closed. Konteka was designed in 1955 by the noted Michigan Architect Alden Dow who spent the summer of 1933 visiting with Frank Lloyd Wright in Spring Green Wisconsin. You can see the influence of Wright's use of nature, structure, and building materials in Konteka as well as in many of Dow's architectural structures.
