Bar, Black Bear Bowling Lanes Konteka Black Bear is located in White Pine, MI only 6 miles south of Lake Superior and the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park on Highway M-64 in the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The town of White Pine is located 12 miles north of Berglund where you will find excellent fishing and boating in Lake Gogebic and 5 miles south of Silver City MI. On the Snowmobile and ATV Trails Konteka Resort is totally smoke free and offers all you need for a wonderful vacation with comfortable motel rooms, laundry facility, a full service restaurant, sauna, hot tub, and tanning. The Black Bear Lounge offers your favorite beverages, games, and late night snacks. The Black Bear Bowling Alley is connected to the Bar and offers league and open bowling. Our full service restaurant serves breakfast, lunch
and dinner daily from 8:30 am to 10 pm. The Restaurant is open 7 days a week with a nice selection
of sandwiches and tasty entrees.
Sunday Breakfast Buffet served from 9 am to 1 pm
Friday Night Fish Fry - a north woods favorite is served
from 11 am to 10 pm every Friday
Delicious Seafood Buffet . . . 2nd Friday of every month. .

There is a handicap accessible bathroom in the restaurant.
Our restaurant overlooks the woods behind Konteka where you will often see bears come up to check out the grounds and see what we are serving for dinner.

Black Bear Bar
The Bar & Grill is open daily from 11 am to 12 pm midnight serving your favorite beverage. Hamburgers, a selection of appetizers, and a variety of other sandwiches are served until 10 pm. Stop by and check out our Daily Bar Specials. There is a pool table and jukebox in the bar and a large 62" Cable TV for your favorite sports programs. Bring an appetite, a hunger, or a thirst and enjoy the Black Bear Bar at Konteka.

Anglers will enjoy casting their bait on the many rivers and streams, charter fishing on Lake Superior, or fishing in Lake Gogebic, the largest lake in the Upper Peninsula, where you might catch walleyes, smallmouth bass, jumbo perch, northern pike, and whitefish.
Hunters will find the woodlands filled with deer, bear, small game, and birds with hundreds of acres of public land.

Bears can often be seen right outside our dining room window. Konteka Black Bear is located just south of the Porcupine Mountains, where you will find the the largest bear population in Michigan
Winter at Konteka Black Bear
Snowmobilers will love our large parking lot with lots of room for your rigs and machines. Trail #1 runs right outside the door where you can ride north to Silver City and up to Lake of the Clouds for an outstanding view of the Porkies. Ride south and hit trail #12 and go up to Ontonagon, Greenland, and the Bill Nicholls Trail. Snowmobile rentals in Bergland.

Downhill and cross-country skiers will have lots of fun at the Porcupine Mountains Ski Area and enjoy an awesome view of Lake Superior from the top of the ski hill. The Porkies have opened up new downhill runs on Everest that can only be reached by riding up on the snowcat. Enjoy the thrill of skiing down through this backcountry wilderness. |

From M-28, turn north on M-64 at Berglund MI and go 12 miles
to Konteka in White Pine MI.
From Ontonagon, take M-64 west of Ontonagon for 17 miles to
Konteka.
Konteka is conveniently located just off Highway M-64 with a
gas station and convenience store next door.
White Pine, Michigan
White Pine MI is a company town that was built in 1954 around the White Pine Copper Mine, that operated until 1995 when it closed. Konteka was designed in 1955 by the noted Michigan Architect Alden Dow who spent the summer of 1933 visiting with Frank Lloyd Wright in Spring Green Wisconsin. You can see the influence of Wright's use of nature, structure, and building materials in Konteka as well as in many of Dow's architectural structures.
