La Casita del Bosque Vacation Home offers elegant accommodations on Sister Lake in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest, just 8 minutes south of Munising, MI in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

La Casita del Bosque, a "Little House in the Woods" is situated in a picturesque setting on the shores of a 15-acre private lake. The newly custom designed and built 3000 square foot Timberpeg home has three bedrooms with 3 & 1/2 bathrooms and is located on over 11 acres of private property.

The living room on the main level centers around a large wood-burning stone fireplace with an "Old World Bakers Oven" on one side and a reclining sofa and love seat on the other. There are slate and wood floors made with local hemlock throughout the home.

There is a large flat screen TV with satellite and DVD player in the family room and another flat screen TV with DVD player in the Master Suite.

The full kitchen has a gas stove top with a built in oven and broiler, refrigerator with ice-maker, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and plenty of cabinets containing ample dishware and cookware. Granite counter tops. There is also a bread maker, blender and a coffee grinder if you want to bring your special blend of beans to enjoy. A supply of basic spices is included for guests to use. The dining table seats 6 guests and there is a snack bar for extra seating. 

The Master Suite is located on the main level and is furnished with a queen-size bed, private bathroom containing a luxurious whirlpool tub, and a built-in ironing center. A door opens out onto the 1500 square foot deck where you can sit and relax and enjoy the view of the lake.

The other two bedrooms are located in the loft and have a queen-size bed in each room with built in hanging and drawer storage. The loft sitting area is perfect for reading or gazing at the fire below and transforms into sleeping quarters for two in the evening. There is a full bathroom with a tub/shower combination. Towels, linens, and a starter of paper products are furnished.

There is a large, wood-burning authentic Finnish Sauna.
An ample supply of firewood is cut and split for our guests.

 The living and dining area have doors opening onto the large deck overlooking the lake where you will find comfortable seating for relaxing, reading, and listening to the birds and wildlife in the nearby woods. 

A rustic path leads down to Sister Lake. The lake area has been left in a natural state, but there is an area for sitting around the fire pit and enjoying the lake. You can walk around the lake and see that the bottom is all beach sand. The lake is rustic because of it's privacy and little use. The water is clear and pristine and beautiful to swim in. Take some time and enjoy just sitting by the lake and listening to all the forest sounds. You sure won't want to go back to the city sounds and ringing phones anytime soon!

Sister Lake has a "no motor" restriction so it is nice for paddling around on and throwing your line in. You are welcoome to bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one locally! The lake is full of small mouth bass and is a perfect lake for teaching your little ones to catch fish.

La Casita del Bosque offers a peaceful atmosphere where you can relax and restore calm to your life. The thousands of acres of the Hiawatha Natural Forest offer unlimited opportunities to stroll through the forest, canoe the many lakes and streams, or bike the trails or back roads.

Enjoy visiting some of the many area waterfalls, hike in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore or on Grand Island, take one of the boat tours on Lake Superior, or go charter fishing.

Winter is beautiful by the lake and La Casita del Bosque will keep you comfortable while you enjoy the winter activities. Cross-country skiing is nearby or you can snowshoe around the cottage. Snowmobile from the door with easy trail access. Dog sled rides are available nearby.
