Marie and has 12 ground floor rooms with parking at the door. The comfortable double or single rooms have queen or full-sized beds, bathrooms with a tub/shower combination, air conditioning, cable TV with 62 channels, refrigerators, microwaves, and in-room coffee makers. Coffee, hot chocolate, and popcorn are provided for our guests. Coffee is also served in the office where you will find an ice machine and a pop machine featuring Coca Cola products. We have designated non-smoking rooms and the large parking lot offers lots of room for your trailers or RV's. Pets are welcome.
The Laker Inn is centrally located near restaurants, shopping, area attractions, and is only 6 blocks from Lake Superior State University. The Kewadin Casino is nearby and offers free shuttle service. While you are staying in the Soo, you might like to visit the Soo Locks, only a short drive north on Ashmun Street to Locks Park. Stop at the Visitor Center in the Park for the schedule of arrivals. You will find historic buildings, restaurants, fudge shops, hand dipped ice cream cones, and a variety of unique shops with unusual nautical gifts. The Valley Camp Freighter Maritime Museum is a few blocks east of Locks Park along with a bookstore and the Soo Locks Boat Tours, where you can travel through the locks on the tour boat. You might enjoy a day trip over the International Bridge to Canada for a drive along the lakeshore, or a trip to Paradise stopping at the Point Iroquois Lighthouse, the Whitefish Point Lighthouse, and breathtaking Tahquamenon Falls. During the winter, the Laker Inn has easy access to the hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails. The new tunnel under I-75 gives easy access to trails leading west that connect with the trail system that covers the entire Upper Peninsula. Snowmobile rentals in town. Cross-country skiers will enjoy the Algonquin Pathway with over 9 miles of groomed trails and a lighted segment for night skiing. The Minneapolis Woods Outdoor Winter Recreation Facility is just a few blocks away and offers snowboarding, tubing, and skiing. Rope tow and heated chalet.
