Lakeview Cottage is located on the north shore of Lake Independence in Big Bay, MI, only 28 miles north of Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Lakeview cottage is a cozy upper level one-bedroom cottage with a loft that will sleep up to 6 guests. Enjoy your meals or your favorite beverage on the deck overlooking the lake and the Huron Mountains or relax in the screened-in porch on the back of the cottage.

 

Lakeview Cottage is newly remodeled and has a new furnace to keep you comfortable on the coolest of mornings. The living area has a flat screen satellite TV with a DVD player and a wood-burning stove. The kitchen has full size appliances with a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishware, and cooking utensils. Patio doors open onto the deck.

The bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed. A ladder leads up to the loft furnished with a queen-size bed and a set of bunk beds. The large bathroom has a tub/shower combination. Linens and paper products are furnished for our guests, but please bring your own towels.

Lakeview Cottage has a southern exposure providing lots of sunshine by the lake. The sand bottomed beach is ideal for swimming and shallow for the kids. A canoe is provided for paddling around the shoreline or you can bring your own boat for fishing and water sports. There is a public boat ramp at Perkins Park, just a short distance from the cottage. Lake Independence offers great fishing for Walleye, Perch, Northern Pike, and Panfish, delicious cooked on the charcoal grill.

There is a fire pit for evening campfires under the stars..

Outdoor lovers will find numerous trails and back roads for hiking and mountain biking in the nearby forest wilderness. Try your luck fishing in the nearby streams or go charter fishing on Lake Superior. There are hundreds of acres of public lands for hunting. There is easy ATV trail access from the cottage door and lots of great riding in this rugged territory. There is ample parking for your boat or ATV trailers.

Internet access is available at the General Store, just 1 1/2 miles from the cottage.

Rates:

Weekly Rate: $650.00 per week

Nightly Rate: $150 per night with a 3 night minimum

$500 security deposit

Mountain View Lodge, next door to Lake View Cottage, has 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and a wood-burning fireplace in the living room. Only 8' from the shoreline of Lake Independence with a sand bottomed beach and awesome view.

Tranquility Haven on Lake Superior at Squaw Beach offers a variety of lodgings from a suite for 1 or 2 guests, a cottage, and a large lodge. All are connected and will accommodate up to 26 guests. Wonderful sandy beach on Lake Superior and an awesome view.
