About the author: Lon Emerick is a retired university professor and a fifth-generation descendant of Cornish copper miners in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. After becoming well known as a writer of several books on the region's charms, he became alarmed about the impact he might be having on luring folks to his beloved U.P. When he found notes left by Sam Satterly in his deer hunting blind (or so he claims), he realized his responsibility to warn unsuspecting visitors and potential residents of what they would find when coming to this far north region "above the bridge."
