The Northern Light Inn Bed and Breakfast offers three charming suites and a guest room, all with private baths in this historic turn-of-the-century home in Ontonagon, Michigan. Originally built in 1903 by an area lumberman, this elegant home has been renovated and decorated with traditional décor and now offers relaxing smoke free accommodations with an adult atmosphere.

Relax on the veranda and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and clear Upper Peninsula air or sit in front of the gas log fireplace in the comfortable living room while you wind down from a busy day.

A delicious full gourmet breakfast is served buffet style each morning from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.. Dianne is an excellent cook and will serve her famous puff pancakes with raspberry sauce or one of her other breakfast treats.

Enjoy your breakfast as you sit at the large table overlooking the fountain and the flower garden in the large yard.

The perfect way to start your day.

All guest rooms have a comfortable beds and a private bath with a coffee maker, mini-fridge, mechanical foot massagers, and soft music in the rooms. The Jacuzzi Suite is on the third floor while the Ivy Suite, Heather Suite, and the Rosemary Room are on the second floor. Rates run from $75 to $95 per night.

Guest Rooms and Suites

Heather Room

The Heather Room is a large room with a king size bed and cool yellow décor located on the second floor of the Inn. There is a comfortable couch and the bathroom has a single-person Jacuzzi tub with jets and a shower.
Air Conditioned

Rates: $95/night

Ivy Suite

The Ivy Suite on the second floor of the Inn is a large room with a queen-size feather bed and an adjoining sitting room overlooking the nicely landscaped yard. There is a full private bath between the guest room and the sitting room.

Rates: $95/night

Rosemary Room

The Rosemary Room on the second floor overlooks the fountain and the flower garden.Relax in the delightful queen size four-poster bed with a step stool and soft pillows.

Rates: $75/night

 

Jacuzzi Suite

The Jacuzzi Suite is on the third floor and is the only guest area on that floor. The suite has a spacious bedroom with a king-sized bed, a private bathroom with a corner jacuzzi, and a living room with a TV, VCR, and DVD player, microwave, and mini-refrigerator.

Rate: $130/night

The Jacuzzi Suite is a great guest area for honeymooners and anniversary couples, but all will enjoy it as it is so roomy and private. Wonderful view of the tree tops and the sky from the windows. Air conditioned for your comfort.

 

bed and breakfast western upper penisulaThe Northern Light Inn Bed and Breakfast is only one block from Lake Superior if you would like to stroll down to the Lake and just three blocks from downtown Ontonagon where you will find restaurants and unique antique and gift shops. The Ontonagon Historical Museum offers a wonderful peak at area history and the copper mining days, and tours of the scenic Ontonagon Lighthouse are available. Visit some of the many area waterfalls or enjoy the awesome fall color during September and early October.

The Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is just 15 miles west of the Northern Light Inn where you can drive up to see the beautiful Lake of the Clouds. The Park offers miles of hiking trails and interpretive programs are presented during the summer. Winter offers downhill skiing and miles and miles of cross country ski trails.

The Northern Light Inn B&B is perfect for that romantic getaway, anniversary, second honeymoon or just a special vacation in this peaceful serene setting.

Winter

Winter is especially beautiful in the Ontonagon area and there are many outdoor recreational activities that you might enjoy. Ontonagon, the Porcupine Mountains, and the Ottawa National Forest have wonderful cross country ski trails, miles of wooded areas for snowshoeing, downhill skiing at the Porkies, ice fishing, and great photographic opportunities. The streets in Ontonagon are open for snowmobiling so you are just a couple blocks from the downtown area for restaurants, shopping, and the main snowmobile trail system located 5 blocks away.

We are open year round but closed during March and April.
A two day minimum stay is required during July and August

The Northern Light Inn is Smoke Free. Sorry but we are unable to accept pets.
