Northern Exposure Log Cabin is located in a wooded area in the Hiawatha National Forest, 1 block east of Forest Lake Road in AuTrain, MI in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. A perfect vacation spot for enjoying the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Grand Island, Au Train Lake, and all that the Munising-AuTrain area has to offer.

This new log cabin has a large great room with a complete kitchen that includes full sized appliances, a microwave, coffee maker, cooking utensils, and dishes. There is a gas BBQ grill on the front deck for some great meals cooked outdoors.

The great room overlooks the woods and has a TV with local service, a VCR with a small video library, and a sofa sleeper. Sit around the wood-burning stove and relax after a busy day. Fire pit by the cabin for your campfires and roasting marshmallows.

There is a master bedroom on the main level with a full-sized bed and a bathroom with a tub/shower combination. Steps lead up to the large 16 x 20' loft containing 2 twin-sized beds, a double bed, and a sitting area with a nice view of the woods. Linens, towels, and paper products are supplied.

Warm weather visitors to the area will find outdoor recreation at it's finest. There are miles of trails and old roads for hiking and biking in the Hiawatha National Forest and AuTain Lake and the AuTrain River offer canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing, tubing, and wake boarding.

There is a nice public beach and boat launch at the AuTrain Lake Campground on the south shore of AuTrain Lake. This is one of the largest inland lakes in the area and perfect for swimming, fishing, and water sports, so bring your boat and get ready for some smmer fun. While you are at the beach, you might like to hike on the "Songbird Trail" and learn the birds by their sounds. Tapes available from the Campground Host or at the AuTrain Grocery. Canoes and small boats are available nearby to rent for use on the Lake or for a nice leisurely paddle down the AuTrain River.

The sandy Lake Superior Beach is just a couple miles north of the cottage. Take your picnic lunch and enjoy a day or afternoon sitting in the sand and watching Lake Superior

The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Island are only 13 miles east of the cottage. The unusual formations and colors of the sandstone cliffs can be seen from shore or from the Pictured Rocks Cruise or the Shipwreck Cruise. Both go past the Grand Island Old East Lighthouse and offer a delightful trip on the lake. You can also try your luck charter fishing or go scuba diving in Lake Superior. Easy access to ATV trails.

You will find over 90 miles of hiking trails, several trails less than a mile, that offer a variety of scenery. Visit waterfalls or walk along the boardwalk on the Marsh Trail. Bikes can be rented at the Ferry Landing for use on Grand Island or you can tour the island by bus. There are lots of old roads near the cottage that are ideal for a bike ride or a walk in the woods.

Northern Exposure Log Cabin is conveniently located near shopping, the Kewadin Casino in Christmas, and restaurants.

The Northern Exposure Log Cabin has easy access to the snowmobile trails so you can ride from the door and connect to hundreds of miles of trails. Winter enthusiasts will enjoy ice fishing on AuTrain Lake, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and downhill skiing only 35 miles west in Marquette. Snowmobile rentals nearby.
