Annual Mardi Gras de Snow

It may not be New Orleans, but Mardi Gras time in Paradise, Michigan delivers its share of winter time fun, food and friendship for the entire snowmobiling family or spectators.

Snowmobile Trail Report for Paradise 

This popular winter event is returning for this winter. The long weekend will begin on Thursday evening with snowshoe races and a bonfire for the early birds then it's off to the races and more, Friday and Saturday.

Registration at the Piece of Paradise next to the True Value Hardware Store in Paradise

Thursday night starts out with snowshoe races and a bonfire from 6:30 pm to 9 pm. The EMS will be selling hotdogs and brats so this promises to be an evening of family fun.

Friday: Sign up for events" at Piece of Paradise next to the True Value Hardware store and start your fun with the "Fun Run", "Moose Chip Push", and Three Legged Snowshoe Race". Later that afternoon head to Vermillion Road for the radar run. For a minimal entry fee, riders can check the speed of their snowmobiles on a short run against a radar gun. An additional Radar Run will be held on Saturday afternoon.

The Annual Parade of Snowmobiles takes off Friday at 7:00 pm with entrants meeting at the Yukon Inn. The parade route follows the main trail through Paradise and winds up at the Paradise Recreational Sports parking lot. From there, snowmobilers can enjoy a moderate guided trek through the woods, finishing up at the Groomer Barn for a bonfire with hot dogs and brats.

Once at the Groomer Barn, riders can take advantage of hot chocolate, coffee and hot dogs, along with a bonfire, to take off the chill. Guests also can view the groomers on display that the Paradise Area Chamber of Commerce uses to keep our 200 miles of snowmobile trails in such fine shape.

Saturday, February 23rd: Start the day with a Pancake Breakfast from 7 am to 11 am at the Whitefish Township Community Center. Then enjoy such varied events as the Fun Run, LeMans Race, and the "Tour de Mardi Gras" will be held. Radar Runs will be held at Vermillion Road, about 5 miles north of town on Whitefish Point Road.

Join in the sled decoration contest and there will be games for the kids.

The social event of the weekend takes place Saturday night at the Paradise Community Center with awards presentation, dancing and lots of good food.
