Curtis, Michigan, in the Eastern Upper Peninsula, is approximately 54 miles west of the Mackinac Bridge at the Manistique Lakes. Sunset Bay Cottage is on South Manistique Lake.

The Sunset Bay Cottage is a three-bedroom lakeside cottage, located on beautiful South Manistique Lake, just outside of Curtis, MI, a charming town in a pristine scenic area, which abounds with festivals, activities and sightseeing year round.

Relax in this tranquil wooded setting, which includes a private beach, dock, ample lawn, grill and patio furniture. A fire pit near the shore is perfect for watching sunsets over the lake, gazing up at starry nights and toasting marshmallows. Or on colder nights, watch the sunset from the warmth and comfort of the cottage.

Inside, two main floor bedrooms feature queen size beds and a second floor loft room holds two double beds. Adjacent to the loft bedroom is a cozy sitting area/reading room leading to a delightful catwalk. The four seasons room has a gas log fireplace and second refrigerator and provides an additional pleasant seating area. Two tv/vcrs (upstairs and down), and direct tv round out the indoor features. The fully equipped kitchen also includes microwave, coffee maker, cookware and dishes. Linens, towels, paper products and a washer and dryer are also included.

Additional amenities include the use of a 14' Lund Fishing Boat plus four life jackets and a paddle boat. Nearby, you can rent snowmobiles, boats, outboard motors, canoes, kayaks, mountain bikes, and ATVs.

The Sunset Bay Cottage is ideally located for summer fishing, boating, water-skiing and swimming and in winter, for snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Bike or hike on the numerous trails in the area. Beautiful fall colors, as well as spring flowers, mushroom hunting and in the spring, smelt run in Lake Michigan as well as trout season at the end of April make any time at the Sunset Bay Cottage an enjoyable time of year!

 

Local Attractions Include:

The natural beauty of the lower and upper Tahquamenon Falls; Big Springs (Kitch-iti-kipi), known to the indians as the mirror of heaven; Seul Choix Lighthouse, Park and Museum, known locally as "the haunted lighthouse"; Mackinac Island; The Soo locks; the Seney National Wildlife Refuge with canoe and kayak rentals in Germfask;Grand Sable Falls and Sand Dunes in Grand Marais and the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore; Fayette Historic State Park; Whitefish Point Lighthouse, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, Whitefish Point Bird Observatory and Whitefish Point Underwater Diving Preserve; and the Newberry Public Golf Course is in Newberry at the junction of M-28 and M-123.
