grocery store and canoe rentals near tahquamenon fallsThe Tahquamenon General Store is located near the entrance to Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Lower Falls and Campground, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The Tahquamenon General Store is a full service grocery with homemade sub sandwiches, deli case, smoked fish, and a variety of salads. We make our own homemade Smoked Beef Jerky in an asssortment of varieties. Don't forget the ingredients for those S'mores -really great cooked over your campfire.

We have the supplies you need for your camping or fishing trip. Conveniently located only 12 miles west of Paradise on Highway M-123 and 1/2 mile east of Tahquamenon State Park Lower Falls Campground.

The Tahquamenon General Store sells camping, hunting and fishing supplies. We have rods, reels, tackle, licenses, and lures for your fishing trip and a full line of groceries, liquor, fresh meat, snacks, live bait and anything else you might need.

Blue Rino Propane Exchange Tanks available and a selection of RV supploes, such as hoses, adaptors, etc.

Canoe Rentals:
The Tahquamenon General Store has six 14' to 17' canoes with paddles and life vests that we rent for a 24 hour period. Our 17' canoe holds 3 paddlers and one has a built in cooler. We offer "put-in" and "take-out" service so you can enjoy the beautiful waters of the Tahquamenon area while you are visiting the Upper Peninsula. We offer special rates for non-profit organizations and small groups.

Tahquamenon River Canoe Trip
Take a 17-mile paddle down the Tahquamenon River from the Lower Falls to the Rivermouth at Whitefish Bay. This paddle trip takes about 5 to 10 hours depending on how fast you paddle, as you might want to stop for a picnic lunch on the riverbank, dip your feet in the river, or try your luck fishing. When you reach the Rivermouth Unit of Tahquamenon Falls State Park, the park ranger will call us and we will come and pick you up.

Canoes are also available for use on local inland lakes such as Andrus Lake, Culhane Lake, Bodi Lake, or Pike Lake for a flat paddle or some fishing.

Winter Hours: 8 am to 9 pm Monday through Thursday; 8 am to 10 pm Friday and Saturday and 8am to 6pm on Sunday. After hours just look to see if our light is on - If so, knock on the door and we will welcome you to the Tahquamenon General Store.

Snowmobilers: For the snowmobile season, we have plugs, oil, antifreeze, gas, accessories, trail permits and tools if you need to make repairs. Snowmobile Maps in the store.

We have a large parking area where you can leave your vehicles and trailers for the day or the weekend. The snowmobile trail goes right by the store - just unload your snowmobile, gas up and hit the trail. This is the only gas station west of the town of Paradise.

Your favorite beverages may be purchased in the store. So stop on the way back to your motel, cabin, or campsite at Tahquamenon Falls State Park and pick up some snacks, beverages, charcoal for your grill, ice, or wood for your campfire. The Tahquamenon General Store has a nice selection of souveniers and gifts to take home with you including a nice selection of Kelly Hansen Heaven Scent soy candles.
