Tranquillity Cottage is a cozy one-bedroom rental cottage located on Squaw Beach on Lake Superior in the town of Big Bay, only 25 miles north of Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Miles of sugar sand beach (no rocks) and shallow waters make this an excellent swimming location. Squaw Beach is one of the most premier beaches that Lake Superior has to offer with crystal clear water that is warmer than most Lake Superior waters.

Tranquillity Cottage has one bedroom with a double bed and a living area with satellite TV, VCR, & DVD players, and a pull out sleeper sofa for extra guests. Fantastic view of Lake Superior. Bathroom with shower. The complete kitchen has full sized appliances, a microwave, dishes, and cookware. The cottage has a classic knotty pine interior and is comfortably furnished. Please bring your own towels and bed linens.

There is a gas grill for cookouts and a fire pit for evening campfires under the stars. A canoe with life jackets is included with the cottage rental. Enjoy paddling along the Lake Superior shoreline and view the unusual Jacobsville sandstone formations that rise up to become cliffs or view the Big Bay Lighthouse from the water.

The view of Lake Superior is breathtaking and sunsets you will not believe all await you right out the door.

Big Bay is a wonderful vacation spot for those who enjoy the wide variety of recreational opportunities on Lake Superior or the forest wilderness at the edge of the Huron Mountains. Enjoy hiking or bring your bikes and ride the two-track roads throughout the area. A small fishing boat can be rented for a small weekly charge to use on Lake Superior or on Lake Independence, one of Michigan's famous fishing lakes where you might catch walleye, northern pike, large and smallmouth bass, and perch. Delicious cooked on the grill. For those who want whitefish or lake trout, there is charter fishing offered by Uncle Ducky Charters at the Big Bay Marina. He also offers rental fishing equipment and guide service if you forgot your gear and want to try your luck fishing. Hundreds of miles of local trout streams offer anglers many exciting afternoons.

There are ATV trails so bring your machine or we offer a weekly ATV rental. Enjoy a waterfall tour with four nearby waterfalls or you might watch for wildlife. Yes, there are moose in this area so keep your eyes open for one wandering through the forest wilderness. Family Guide Service is available at Little Tree Cabins so if you aren't ready to set out on your own, Martha will set up an adventure just right for your needs.

You will find restaurants, gift shops, and a grocery store in Big Bay or you can visit Marquette, only 25 miles south of the cottage, for fine dining and shopping.

Rates for Tranquillity Haven:
June, July, & August: $650 per week
May, September, & October: $550.00 per week
