The Voyageurs Motel and Vacation Home, located on a hillside in Grand Marais, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, offers comfortable lodging in a quiet setting with a beautiful scenic view of the Grand Marais Harbor and Lake Superior. The Voyageurs Motel offers 10 comfortable
spacious rooms with two queen-sized beds in each
room, cable TV, phones, and coffee makers. All of our rooms offer a wonderful view of
Grand Marais Harbor and Lake Superior. We have one handicap accessible room and some
of our rooms have refrigerators with microwaves
available. There is a picnic area with swings, grills, and picnic tables on the hillside behind the Voyageurs where guests can have a cookout or just sit and enjoy the outstanding view, with a fire pit for your evening campfires.
The Voyageurs Vacation Home is located next
to the motel and has 3 bedrooms with 2 full
bathrooms, living area with cable TV, and full
kitchen with stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee
maker, cooking utensils, and dishes. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a full
sized bunk bed with a private bathroom. The second
bedroom has one queen-sized bed, and the third
bedroom has two twin beds, and the home will sleep
up to 8 guests. All things are supplied so just
bring your clothing and food. Maid service will
come daily to remove used towels and replace them
or you may have no service at all if you wish.
There is a picnic table and grill located on the hillside right outside your door where you can enjoy the scenic view of the harbor and Lake Superior. Guests staying in our Vacation Home are welcome to use the hot tub, sauna, and other facilities in the Community Building.
The Voyageurs Motel and Vacation Home are conveniently located within easy walking distance of downtown Grand Marais where you will find restaurants, shopping, a sandy swimming beach, galleries, the "Teenie Weenie Pickle Barrel", and the agate and historical museums.
The eastern entrance to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is just a short distance west of the Voyageurs where you can enjoy Sable Falls, the Grand Sable Dunes, Log Slide overlook, hiking trails, and you might like to visit the AuSable Lighthouse, a 1.5 mile hike of along the beach. The Voyageurs Motel has a large parking lot for your trailers and there are ATV trails nearby for riding in the Lake Superior State Forest. Recreational opportunities abound with canoeing, kayaking, or fishing the nearby inland lakes and rivers. The Fox River, a Michigan Blue-Ribbon Trout Stream, is only a few miles south of Grand Marais. Stargazers will enjoy looking north across Lake Superior with miles and miles of dark night sky.
The Seney National Wildlife Refuge, home to a large variety of birds and wildlife, is just a few miles south of Grand Marais where you might like to hike, bike, or canoe through the Refuge. Mountain bikes and canoes can be rented in Germfask. Enjoy the interpretive programs and exhibits at the Visitor Center or go on the 7 mile Marshland Drive.
Winter brings lots of snow and you can snowmobile right from your door on over 500 miles of groomed local trails that connect on trails throughout the Upper Peninsula. Cross Country skiers will have fun on the groomed cross country ski trails in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, just west of Grand Marais or the trails in the Seney Wildlife Refuge. Dogs welcome in designated pet rooms with small additional charge.
