Kayaking There are 4 great rivers in Florence County, the Brule, the Menominee, the Pine, and the Popple that wind through the wilderness and offer a scenic trip through the wilderness. Enjoy paddling down the Popple River or the Pine River, two of Wisconsin's three Wild Rivers. There are waterfalls on both the Popple and the Pine Rivers, watch for the portages.
For a short trip, take a fun jaunt on the "Pine River Oxbow" where the river winds around for 3.5 miles and you return to land less than 1/2 mile from where you launched your kayak at the bridge on Highway N, just south of Florence.
The Menominee River also offers a nice paddle with a few rapids. Put in where the Michigamme and the Brule Rivers meet, just east of Florence and paddle all the way to Badwater Lake, the Twin Falls Reservoir. Florence County has many inland lakes that are great for fishing or a peaceful paddle. Florence County offers 7 mountain biking trails as well as many back roads throughout the county. Visit some of the waterfalls or just ride through the woods enjoying the scenic beauty and solitude of the Northwoods.
