Vacation Rental on Lake Superior

The Au Train Island View Lodge is located on the shores of Lake Superior, just off Highway M-28 on the east side of AuTrain in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is only a short drive to the magnificent Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Grand Island Recreation Area, and cascading waterfalls.

The AuTrain Island View Lodge is a newly remodeled 3-bedroom ranch style vacation home with a loft, 3 & 1/2 bathrooms, two wood-burning fireplaces, satellite TV, wireless internet access, a complete kitchen with a dishwasher, and comfortable furnishings.

There are two lodging options at the AuTrain Island View Lodge. Guests can rent the entire 3-bedroom lodge or just the Lakeview Retreat side.

The Lakeview Retreat side of the AuTrain Island View Lodge offers two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The living room is confortably furnished and has a wood-burning fireplace. The Lakeview Retreat offers cable TV and wireless internet access. The complete kitchen has full size appliances, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and a dishwasher.

The Master bedroom is furnished with two queen beds and the attached bathroom has a tub and shower combination and the second bedroom has two full- size beds. Linens, towels, and paper products are provided for our guests.

The entire lodge can be rented for a larger group or those who would like additional room. The Log Cabin side of the Lodge has a family room with a wood-burning fireplace and a futon that opens into a double bed. There is a table with chairs and a kitchenette with a small refrigerator and a sink. There is one bedroom on the main level with a queen-size bed. A stairway leads to the loft that is furnished with two twin cots. There is a full bathroom on the main floor and a half-bath in the loft.

The AuTrain Island View Lodge has a large 97' deck on the front of the house overlooking Lake Superior and AuTrain Island. Relax in the lawn furniture and enjoy fantastic sunsets and the many faces of Lake Superior.

Enjoy the view of Lake Superior or relax in our garden.

The Lodge has a gas grill for outdoor cooking and a picnic table for enjoying your morning beverage or a meal overlooking Lake Superior. There is a phone in the lodge for local calls.

The 200' of shoreline is rocky, but a good spot for collecting unusual rocks. There is a gentle slope from the house to the shoreline of Lake Superior, a delightful place for relaxing in the lawn chairs by the lake. For those who enjoy swimming, the AuTrain Sand Beach is just west of the Lodge and there is a nice swimming beach at the campground on Au Train Lake.

Have a wonderful vacation at the comfortable AuTrain Island View Lodge while you enjoy all the exciting outdoor recreation that the area has to offer or visit interesting local attractions. The Pictured Rocks offers trails for hiking or you can drive to some of the scenic spots and see Miners Castle and Munising Falls, only a short walk from your car. The Pictured Rocks can be viewed from the water on the Pictured Rocks Cruise or the Shipwreck Tour. You can tour Grand Island by hiking, biking, or on a bus ride . . . Bikes can be rented at the Ferry dock. There are a variety of trails for mountain biking and the ATV trails are only a short distance from the Lodge.

Take a canoe trip down the AuTrain River, rent a pontoon boat for a boat ride or fishing on AuTrain Lake, go Charter Fishing, or take a waterfall tour. Some waterfalls can be seen from your car, while the others range from an easy walk to a more vigorous hike.

Fall and spring around AuTrain is beautiful as the wildflowers come to life and birds return or visit in the fall as spectacular fall colors cover the area. Don't forget your camera.

Alger County gets amazing lake effect snow that starts early and stays late. There are hundreds of miles of groomed trails leading throughout the county and all over the Upper Peninsula. Cross Country Skiers will find groomed trails for novice to expert skiers, including the trails at Christmas, only 5 miles east of the Lodge. Try your luck ice fishing or there is ice climbing for the very adventurous. Easy trail access from the AuTrain Island Lodge.
